Carlos Julio was born in Mexico City in 1964 where he spent his formative years pursuing an education and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from ITAM. After his professional training in business, he studied for a postgraduate degree in finance at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

His interest in art was developed at an early age and has been drawn to impressionism, especially in artists like Renoir, Van Gogh, Monet, and Degas, while also being interested in classic artists such as Rembrandt, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Rafael. He is a self-taught artist whose passion for creating art has grown over the last 2 decades. In addition to his academic achievements, he also found another artistic outlet through singing, particularly Bel Canto, which he studied for eight years.

In 2003, Carlos Julio decided to start painting after being inspired by Jackson Pollock's work. He began to experiment with sketches using the same dripping technique as the late artist.  It was not until 2008 that Carlos Julio found his own style of painting which included interpreting movement of the human body and animals, as well as iconic places.

Carlos Julio lives in McKinney, Texas with his wife Nancy and their dog Barney. He is a member of The Last Art Gallery where his art is currently displayed for sale.
